This course is intended for students who are interested in developing their technical abilities in painting, focusing on the understanding and control of colour, and on the expressive application of paint. Exploring colour theory, students will respond to, and translate visual qualities; using colour to suggest and interpret light, form and space. Students will paint and draw from a variety of sources including still life, landscape and interiors, addressing concepts of representation and abstraction. This class presents an opportunity for students who seek a technical introduction to oil paint or wish to develop their existing skills.
