The Cow House
The studios are housed in a recently converted stone barn. Built in 1915, it was a working “cow house” until 2006. With its dense stone walls, abundant natural light, and high ceiling supported by striking wooden beams, the Cow House is architecturally unique at twice the width of typical Irish stone barns. Today, the 2400 square-foot open plan studio contains a wood shop, darkroom, computer lab and lounge. The studios were designed for flexibility of use, with moveable walls allowing for workspaces to be created for specific projects and working methods. The Darkroom at the Cow House consists of three Omega D5XL enlargers with black & white printing capabilities up to 20” x 24”, and our computer lab consists of four Apple Macintosh computers, a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro high resolution film scanner, an Epson R2400 A3 plus size colour printer, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Professional, Final Cut Pro and wireless broadband.
